Within the Energy Sector Assistance Project in BiH – USAID EPA there was formed a working group to analyse the alignment of Market rules in BiH consisted of relevant institutions’ representatives at both state and entity levels whose task was to determine thresholds of installed capacity for classification of generators.
The working group adopted a proposal for classification of generators in line with the methodology described in a document with the working title: "Classification of generators according to installed capacity and voltage level at the connection point in BiH".

On Friday, 8th January 2021 the synchronous area of Continental Europe was split into two separated grid regions for more than an hour. Frequency deviation was registered in the power system of BiH and in neighbouring systems. The separation occurred at 14h 04 CET over control areas of Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia and at 15h 08 CET it was reconnected. The separation was caused by cascading outages of transmission lines in the South East Europe. In BiH these lines had outages: 220 kV Prijedor 2 – TPP Sisak and Prijedor 2 – Međurić. In a newly formed synchronous area of the South-East Europe frequency increased up to 50,61Hz which was a direct consequence of more generation power than the load power at that time.

Project FARCROSS was successfully presented at the H2020 Transmission Grids projects Virtual Workshop organized by the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA).
Yhe H2020 Transmission Grids Projects Clustering Workshop took place virtually on 2nd December 2020. The goal of this clustering activity was the analysis of the efforts by different H2020 projects on Electricity Transmission Grids to define TSO-DSO collaboration schemas.
In this context, UBITECH Energy presented FARCROSS project that promotes state-of-the art technologies to enhance the exploitation/capacity/ efficiency of transmission grid assets, either on the generation or the transmission level.
TRINITY is a project that enhances the cooperation and coordination among the Transmission System Operators of SEE in order to support the integration of the electricity markets in the region, whilst promoting higher penetration of clean energies. The Project is being implemented under the auspices of the European Commission Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA). For more information please visit trinityh2020.eu
The FARCROSS project started in October 2019 and funded by European Commission under Horizon 2020 Programme (Grant Agreement No 864274). It is a four-year project and will last until October 2023. The FARCROSS project intends to connect major stakeholders of the energy value chain and demonstrate integrated hardware and software solutions that will facilitate the “unlocking” of the resources for the cross-border electricity flows and regional cooperation. If you need more information, please visit farcross.eu
Installation of the equipment was done within the Work Package 5 "Pilot Deployment, Demonstration and Evaluation – DLR-H DEMO: Complex grid management technology for handling cross-border transmission line capacity-related issue"
