On 12 September 2019 NOSBiH signed Grant Agreement related to its participation in EU supported research project TRINITY (Transmission system enhancement of regionalborders by means of Intelligent market technology) which officialy began on 1 October 2019 and will last up to October 2023.
TRINITY is a project that enhances the cooperation and coordination among the Transmission System Operators of SEE in order to support the integration of the electricity markets in the region, whilst promoting higher penetration of clean energies. The Project is being implemented under the auspices of the European Commission Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA).
In addition to NOSBiH this Project is being implemented by Serbian TSO (EMS), Montenegrin TSO (CGES), Macedonian TSO (MEPSO) and Bulgarian TSO (ESO), and by the Security Coordination Centre (SCC) Belgrade and 14 prominent expert and academic European organisations which will, in the following four years as the Project will last, under the coordination of GRUPO-ETRA (the coordinator-consultant from Spain) elaborate topics related to calculation of crossborder transmission capacities, crossborder balancing energy exchange, an organized intra day market and coupling of South-East European electricity markets, renewable sources and ancillary services on the international level.
The project will set up a framework for cross border cooperation and integration of electricity markets in South-East Europe. By starting from existing agreements and with the purpose to facilitate day ahead electricity markets coupling, this Project will propose a coordinated capacity and electricity intraday market for countries within the Region including EU and non-EU countries. This Project will also develop new algorithms to improve the calculation of reliability values (Reliability Margins calculation), which will facilitate the integration of more RES in the Region and will develop the T-Coordination Platform which will improve cooperation between transmission system operators and regional coordination centres (RCCs-TSOs). This platform will rely on experience and knowledge of European TSOs that related to cross-border electricity management.
