Regional Cooperation for a Stronger Power System

On the initiative of Independent System Operator in BiH (NOSBiH) it was held a regional meeting with representatives of Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CGES) and Elektroprijenos BiH with the aim of improving the electricity transmission infrastructure and strengthening regional cooperation.

The key topic of the meeting was implementation of strategically important projects such as the construction of 400 kV interconnection SarajevoBrezna and the reconstruction, that is, increase in the transmission capacity of the existing OHL 220 kV TrebinjePerućica. This increase of the interconnection has the potential to significantly increase safety, reliability and capacity of power systems in countries of the Region and to contribute to better mutual connections.

Key technical initiatives were also discussed – the possibility of installing a transformer of 400/220 kV at the substation ‘Trebinje’, modernisation of the existing interconnective transmission lines and increase of their transmission power as well as improvements in coordinating operational security between system operators.

The meeting was attended by NOSBiH General Director Nemanja Pandurević and Head of the Department for Real Time System Management Bojan Rebić.

CGES representatives were: Executive Director Ivan Asanović, Head of the Executive Director’s Cabinet Aleksa Knežević, Director of National Dispatching Centre Ranko Redžić and Director of the Sector for Development and Investments Dragan Perunović.

Representatives of Elektroprijenos BiH were: General Director Miro Džakula, Executive Director for Planning and Engineering Alaudin Alihodžić and Executive Director for System Operation and Maintenance Cvjetko Žepinić.

This meeting represents an important step forward towards more stable, more efficient and safer regional power system. All participants emphasised that they stand up for open and constructive cooperation with the aim of creating common energy future of the region.
